In 1947 Bankalar Lokantasi launched by Gasper Yazıcı who is an armenian citizen. In those years nearby Turkish and also foreign banks managers were coming to this restaurant. In 1960 restaurant taken over by another armenian citizen who is called Artin Biçmen. In 1987 restaurant taken over by another citizen who is called Haci Recep Karacan. Recep Karacan has an interesting life story.

He moved from Erzincan to come next his uncle in 1946 while he was 14. His uncle who lives in Istanbul found him a job in the Pandelli Restaurant as a steward. He worked there for 20 years and also worked there as waiter. In 1966 he came to Bankalar Lokantasi who owned by Artin Biçmen in that time. In 1987 he closed their accounting with Artin Biçmen to go to pilgrimage.

He was not thinking to work after he came back. But Artin Biçmen said to Recep Karacan ‘’ I can’t continue running this restaurant without you, you can come back here to work or you buy the restaurant ‘’. After this Recep Karacan owned the restaurant. After that time he started running the restaurant with his sons called; Hasan, Rüstem and Serdal. Brother Hasan Karacan take the control of another branch which is opened at Kemeraltı Streed in 1999. This restaurant in Bankalar Street is still running by Rüstem and Serdal brothers. We are oftenly visited by our loyal customers even if they retire from the market. They also recommend to the new owners of their places. In our restaurant our stew menu is changing everyday but our grilled menu which contains fish, poultry and meat is stable. You can find different dishes everyday.
